Hi, all -

I'm new to the area, moved here in May 2018 from the Washington, D.C. area. I have a son and grandkids in Bellingham and another son in Pouslbo.

I work as a Solutions Architect for General Dynamics Information Technology, primarily in Federal Health (NIH, CDC, FDA, CMS, etc.). This means I lead teams in developing and writing technical solutions for proposal responses that (hopefully) win work with the federal government. I've worked for the same company (through several acquisitions) for over 21 years.

Formerly in the U.S. Navy serving as a nuclear reactor operator on fast attack submarines.

Education:
B.S. Computer Science, Chapman University
M.S. Network Security, Capitol Technology University
M.S. Technology Management, George Mason University
Doctor of Information Assurance, University of Fairfax (research topic: closing the gender gap in cybersecurity)

Groups I'm involved with:
Board member, NIST-sponsored Federal Information Systems Security Educators' Association
Board member, National Cybersecurity Student Association
Working Group member, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (Collegiate subgroup, Career Pathways project)
Planning Committee member, Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education
Planning Committee member, Community College Cyber Summit
Regular guest presenter for NASA's Security Awareness program

Interests:
- The 'human' side of cybersecurity. Hardware and software are great, my focus is the 'wetware'...people's brains and how they react/interact with cybersecurity programs
- anything related to technology...I'm kind of a sponge

Regarding TAG: I'm interested in learning more about what's going on in the region regarding technology and how I can assist. I do a lot of speaking about Insider Threat to both security professionals and end users. I also talk about other security topics as part of security awareness programs. I've also participated as a speaker in high school and college career days, talking about cybersecurity. I'm happy to be part of outreach programs to schools and the community at large.

If you're attending the BSides Security Conference in Vancouver mid-March, I'll be speaking there on Insider Threat.
